was born in central NY where at age 14 he bought his first tractor and began mowing lawns in the neighborhood. His passion for lawn care and courteous manner brought him more business than he could cover and within a year he had a wait list.
In 1997 Michael and his family relocated to Raleigh NC, where he continued to grow his lawn care business throughout high school and college. After graduating from Wake Tech Michael worked for the City of Raleigh, Water and Sewer department where he earned the reputation as a top heavy equipment operator and later supervisor and problem solver. In 2016 Michael began working as a project manager for several volume builders where he learned the construction business and earned a reputation as a top project manager.
After Successfully growing his lawn care business part time Michael decided to expand into hauling, site preparation, grading, and snow removal. In 2018 Cutting it Close was rebranded and incorporated. Michael believes that dependability and integrity are the foundation of his success and has always given a personal 100% satisfaction guarantee to anything his company does.
Michael likes being outdoors and when he’s not working construction and landscaping you can find him and his Goldendoodle Oakley, spending time with family, and friends out on the lake or down at the beach.
Cutting it Close can haul anything you need delivered or taken away. We haul yard waste, remodeling waste, limbs, trees, rock, crush and run, sand, fill dirt, pine straw, and mulch. Let us haul the materials for your next DIY project or we’ll be glad to haul and spread.
Our roots are in Lawn Care so it’s near and dear to our hearts. From mowing (bush-hogging fields to meticulously striped lawns), edging and trimming to fertilizing, aerating, weeding, and sod installation.
From top soil, sod and irrigation to hardscapes and retention walls we do it all and with a flair for the design our work is always unique.
We also design and build facades for development entrances, driveways and mailboxes. Ask us about our custom mailbox designs and group rates that will not be beat.
